2 days gorilla tour in Volcanoes National Park gives you an ultimate safari in Rwanda where one has a lifetime chance to visit the northern based national park, one of the most visited destinations in Rwanda.

Volcanoes national park is as well the oldest national park in Rwanda covering an area of 160 square kilometers and it encompasses five of the eight Virunga mountains and these include; Mount Muhabura, Mount Sabinyo, Mount Bisoke, Mount Gahinga and Mount Karisimbi.
Visiting Volcanoes National Park on your 2 days gorilla safari gives you an opportunity to visit one of the 12 habituated gorilla families in this park, the park consists of half of the mountain gorilla population in the whole world; therefore, having yourself on this trip gives you memorable encounters with these endangered primates.


Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park


Arrive at Kigali international airport - the main airport of Rwanda, be welcomed by a professional English speaking guide and then embark on the road trip to Volcanoes national park. Reach the park and check in at the lodge for relaxation and lunch.
After lunch, have a road transfer for a cultural tour to Ibyiwachu community where you will enjoy various cultural activities like banana beer making, entertainment from the Twa, Hutu and Tutsi. You will be highly welcomed by the thrilling drum sounds, Rwanda cultural dances to mention but a few.

After this cultural encounter, you will have a road transfer back to the lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Departure


Wake up early in the morning and have your morning breakfast, thereafter you will have a road transfer to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about the do’s and don’ts of trekking gorillas in Volcanoes national park. This briefing starts at exactly 7:00am by the park rangers who will as well divide the trekkers into groups of 8 people. After this briefing and grouping, each group will hike into the forest in search for the assigned mountain gorilla family.

This activity takes 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family that you are searching for. As soon as you reach the appointed gorilla family, you will be required to spend only one hour as you experience and appreciate these primates’ half human lifestyle.
After this long experience, you will return to the lodge to check out and have a road transfer back to Kigali international Airport for your evening flight back home.
