You can't wait for any other offer after coming across this unique 5 days’ safari to encounter your closest relatives - the mountain gorillas at Volcanoes national park and wildlife at Akagera national park in Rwanda; the land of a thousand hills. Mountain gorillas are humans' closest relatives, sharing over 98%DNA, with similar characteristics, but very active.

Whereas at Akagera national park, expect to encounter if not all then the majority of Africa's big5; lions, leopards, Rhinoceros, Elephants and elephants among others, besides the breathtaking landscape and other flora and fauna. The trip never ends without appreciating the comfort, security, cuisine, time management and hospitality among others.

Details

Day 1: Pickup, city tour and Volcanoes national park


Upon landing at Kigali international airport, meet our expert driver-guide who will explain and take you to the different destinations listed in the itinerary. He will start by having a chat and a glass of juice with you, before visiting the different attractions around the city, notably the local markets and genocide memorial site.

Thereafter, you will have lunch and then embark on a 2-3-hour drive to Volcanoes national park while traversing the undulating hills, scattered homesteads, and flourishing plantations among others.


Day 2: Volcanoes national park; Gorilla trekking and Musanze caves


A tasty cup of coffee is first thing today, followed by a drive to the park headquarters for document verification, and briefing by the park rangers. The briefing time is when your questions are answered, rules and regulations are said and members are allocated to the different gorilla families.

Afterwards, the park rangers will accompany you to search for the apes, starting from where they were last seen, to where they are. It can last for about 1-7 hours, depending on one's hiking speed and the direction the creatures have taken. Deep into the Jungle, you may find the apes relaxing, eating or playing, yet the memories, sights, and sounds will perfectly be captured by the eye, camera and ears.

After spending the one hour studying the Apes, you will return for lunch, and then head to explore the Musanze caves, located approximately 2km from the park. These magical ancient caves are so captivating, and it takes one-two hours to explore, with plenty of bats and other creatures to lookout for., before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Akagera national park


After a delicious breakfast meal at the lodge, you will check out for a transfer to Akagera national park for wildlife viewing. This journey is one to remember because of the smooth drive and numerous attractions to look out for such as the undulating hills, traditional homesteads, and flourishing landscapes among others. There will be lunch en-route; whereas arrival at the park is late in the evening for dinner and a nap.

Day 4: Full day game drive


At sunrise, you will enjoy your breakfast, followed by a full day search for the different residents in the vast savanna grassland of Land of Akagera. Prey, predators, birds, reptiles and vultures; young and old call it home, notably; egrets, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, rhinos, lions, giraffes, and numerous antelope species among others.
You will have lunch in the wild, before proceeding with the search in different territories to the time of retiring at the lodge with dinner and a peaceful sleep.

Day 5: Departure


After a lovely morning breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver guide who will hit the road to Kigali city for departure, with an enroute lunch stopover. This drive is so exciting, with plenty of breathtaking landscape to look out for.
