Overview

2 days Akagera National Park tour is an ultimate wildlife safari which offers you a memorable game drive and a thrilling boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Akagera National Park is the only savannah Park in Rwanda; it is located in the north-eastern edge of Rwanda, 3 hours’ drive away from Kigali city and that is approximately 107 kilometers via Rwamagana Road.
It is the largest national park in Rwanda covering an area of 1,085 square kilometers. The park hosts the big five mammals including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, giraffes, Zebras and hundreds of bird species including the rare shoebill.
Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park, An Afternoon Boat cruise.

Arrive at Kigali international Airport the main entry point to Rwanda; be warmly welcomed by an English speaking professional tour guide whom you have a road transfer with to Akagera National Park.

Reach the park, check into the lodge for lunch, have some relaxation and then after, you will go for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema located in the south of Akagera National Park. Enjoy a thrilling boat cruise while spotting out the water birds like the rare shoe bill, and an opportunity see numerous animals like the buffaloes, hippos to mention but a few as they come to drink some water at the banks of the lake.
After this boat cruise experience on Lake Ihema, you have a road transfer back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Departure


After an early cup of warm coffee, embark on a morning game drive with the beautiful sun rises clearly exposing the plain rolling savannah landscapes of the park dotted with short savannah grassland intertwined with woodlands stretching long to the boarder of Tanzania, all scattered with countless numbers of wild game.


The game drive in the morning exposes you to numerous families of elephants, buffaloes, Masaai giraffes, various antelopes like Impala, bushbucks, water bucks among others. The predators here include leopards among other wild game that flourish within this natural shelter. A long stretch to the overhanging slopes of Mutumba generates a rewarding experience on your safari in Rwanda.

This activity lasts for 3-4 hours after where you will return to the lodge for relaxation and a buffet lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge to Kigali international Airport for your departure back home.
