Overview

This 5 days safari involves both gorilla trekking, boat cruise, wildlife game drives in Uganda’s popular parks, namely, Bwindi impenetrable, Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national parks respectively.


You will spot various mammal species including impalas, buffaloes, elephants, kobs, and predators such as leopards and lions. The highlight of this trip is however the majestic mountain gorillas in Bwindi national park.

Detailed Safari

Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo national park. Boat cruise in the evening


As early as 7:30am, have breakfast as you begin your transfer to Lake Mburo national park. The journey begins smoothly as you traverse Kampala’s suburbs – Busega, Natete and Kyengera via Masaka highway. Off to Mpigi with its lush eucalyptus forests and ever cool climate. The first stopover will be at equator line – the longest and main latitude that divides the world into two hemispheres, north and south.

The onsite guide will take you through the uniqueness of this point and perform a simple experiment that proves this is indeed the middle of the world. Proceed off via Masaka to Lake Mburo national park. Upon arrival, have lunch and immediately go for an afternoon boat trip along Lake Mburo.
The boat cruise exposes one to a profusion of bird species, both endemic and migratory as well as reptile species, mammals, etc.

Retire from the cruise and head to the lodge for relaxation and night stay.

Day 2: Lake Mburo N/park: Game drive and transfer to Queen Elizabeth N/park


Treat yourself to a lovely sunrise with tasty African breakfast, after which you will embark on a morning game drive. On this safari, expect to spot Zebras, Impalas, eland antelopes, giraffes, Kobs,buffaloes, topis,water bucks, among others.
Return to the lodge, immediately check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth park in the southern sector of Ishasha.

Day 3: Game drive in Ishasha sector and transfer to Bwindi national park


Wake up in the dawn, have a sunrise breakfast to be able to start your game drive as early as possible. The drive begins with a search for the elusive climbing lions which are more likely to be seen on sunrise than in the afternoon when they climb trees to seek for shade.
You may be so lucky to meet these rare lions that climb trees, only two parks in East Africa do harbor these unique, that is Queen Elizabeth national park in Uganda and Lake Manyara national park in Tanzania.

Other than the climbing lions, Ishasha sector is home to more animal species including elephants, topis, cape buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, hippos and several bird species that you will see during this game drive.
After this wildlife experience, proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park to Buhoma sector in the northern region.

Day 4: Gorilla tour in Bwindi


Today you will be woken up by forest birds, and find your breakfast ready; eat and get ready for departure by 7:00am, depending on where you spent a night, depart to the briefing center and by 7:30am the briefing begins.

Head out into the jungles of Buhoma sector to meet your relatives; depending on the family being trekked, you will spend between 2 – 8 hours searching for these elusive species as they tend to move deep into the forests looking for foliage to feed on.

Upon meeting them, you are given only one 1 hour to learn about their habits, lifestyle, get to know the family members and conduct photography, before you retire back to the starting point.
In the evening, you have an option of visiting the Batwa communities in the neighborhood of the park, or visiting the Bakiga communities to learn about their livelihood and empowerment projects like schools, hospitals, water tanks and so much more.  

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala and Departure


After you’ve had a spicy cup of coffee, you will finally say bye to this lush beautiful forest of Bwindi, as you return to Kampala or Entebbe airport to catch departure flight.
