This is a 2 days challenging, thought-provoking, and exciting trip to one of the world's most active lava volcanoes, located in Virunga national park in the democratic republic of Congo; Mount Nyiragongo.  This is a very affordable trip, which leads to a lifetime of unforgettable opportunity after hitting the peak of the most active volcano, decorated by blazing Lava Lake.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pickup and commencement of the hike

Early in the morning, you will be met by our expert driver-guide at the agreed point, briefed on what to expect on the trip, and then driven to Grande barrier for a hiking permit, followed by another transfer to Bukima police post for briefing, attaining hiking pieces of equipment and porters among others. Hiking starts at 10:30 am for approximately 5-6 hours with moments of relaxation and lunch enroute. Mount Nyiragongo is situated in Virunga national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and hiking to the summit gives you an opportunity of watching a variety of flora and fauna, the captivating Virunga landscape and scattered homesteads, yet not forgetting the blazing lava summit where you will spend hours taking photos and sightseeing. Thereafter, you will head to your hut for dinner and an amazing overnight stay.

Day2: Descend and departure

As you wake up early morning, the flash rays of the captivating sunrise will be the first sight at the summit, followed by breakfast, and you descend to the base; reaching about midday, only to connect to your driver guide who will take you for lunch and then transfer to either the airport or any other agreed point.
